The DCED Secretariat was established in 2004 and is based in Cambridge, UK.
Jim Tanburn has been the Coordinator of the Donor Committee since 2004. Prior to this, he was a Senior Enterprise Development Specialist with the International Labour Organisation in Geneva (1993-2004) and founder manager of a UK-based NGO working in enterprise development (1983-1993). Previously, he worked in the oil industry, in marketing, research and exploration (1977-1983). Mr. Tanburn is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, UK.
Susan Joekes joined the DCED Secretariat in February 2012 from Canada's International Development Research Centre, working out of the Middle East and North African Regional Office in Cairo as a member of the Supporting Inclusive Growth program. Prior to that she headed IDRC's Trade, Employment and Competitiveness program and the IDRC Gender Unit. Before joining IDRC she had been a Fellow of the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, UK and a member of the Globalisation team. She has degrees from the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford in the UK.
Melina Heinrich joined the DCED Secretariat in May 2010. She studied Political Science, Economic Policy and International Law at the University of Bonn, Germany, and the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Her Master's thesis examines Public-Private Dialogue for Post-Conflict Private Sector Development in Sierra Leone.
Ashley Aarons joined the DCED Secretariat in December 2011, following a role with the UNDP in Tajikistan. He studied Social Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge and has a Masters in Development Studies from the University of London, with his thesis on Corporate Social Responsibility in Central Asia.
Nabanita Sen, Results Measurement Specialist
Nabanita Sen has been working part-time for DCED since January 2010. She studied Economics and Actuarial Science at the University of Toronto. Prior to joining DCED, Nabanita worked in developing and implementing the results measurement system in Swisscontact Katalyst, one of the first organizations that contributed to the development of the DCED Standard for results measurement
