Private-sector development has an important role to play in conflict-affected environments, and has the potential to contribute positively to peace-building and conflict prevention.
The Committee is engaging closely with this theme in 2008, initially focusing on post-conflict situations. The Committee's work in 2008 has been focused in two main areas:

In 2009-2010, the Committee will continue to facilitate cooperation and knowledge sharing in this area, broadening the scope of this theme to consider all types of conflict-affected environments. The Committee will also work to address specific technical and operational issues on the theme.
