Overview
As in the previous Annual Meeting, we dedicated one day (9 July) to a formal business day. This included a review of progress during the last year and agreement on the work plan and budget for FY 2014-2015.
The second day (10 July) was dedicated to technical discussion on Private Sector Development and Job Creation among DCED members and invited guests. Highlights of this day included a plenary speech by Justin Yifu LIn on the potential for a new ‘golden age’ of industrialisation in Africa. There were many other topical contributions on evidence of employment creation interventions, strategies to promote youth employment, and methods to measure results in job creation. Contributing organisations included the China Chamber in Ethiopia, UC Berkeley, the Overseas Development Institute, IFC, the MasterCard Foundation, ILO and many others.
